David Licauco shared what made him decide to venture into entrepreneurship.

The actor remarked that his entrepreneurial journey started when the pandemic happened.

"During the pandemic po, hindi po ba lahat tayo nahirapan? Wala po tayong trabaho," he recalled in an interview with Jessica Soho. "Ako po 'yung nag-start lahat, 'yung Sobra Cafe may two branches na. That started during the pandemic. I was just looking at food photos on Instagram, sabi ko pwede 'tong gawin ha," he shared.

David then enrolled in a business school. "I grew up in a family na businessman and businesswoman talaga. From there, I started studying, I studied in London Business School and then also improved on myself," he shared.

Recounting the early days of his cafe, David relayed that he was very hands-on in every aspect of the business. "Ako po 'yung nagpa-pack ng food. Sobrang hands on. All the leg work I did," he relayed.

Aside from Sobra, David is the owner of a Korean restaurant called Kuya Korea.

Last February, the actor took a trip down memory lane and reminisced about growing Sobra Cafe as it opened its second branch.

"My personal entry for how we started vs how it’s going 😆. What I learned from Sobra from the past 4 years is that when you’re passionate about something, you’ll go the extra mile to achieve it," he remarked.

David highlighted that there's a lot that goes on behind the scenes in order to maintain and grow a business.

"What you mostly see on social media is only the tip of the iceberg. What people don’t see is the work you put in behind the scenes. From booking a rider and posting on random Viber community groups (ty to my friends who included me in their respective village group chats 😆), to going up and down an elevator and sourcing the best suppliers, and so much more," he recounted.

The actor confessed that while it's challenging, seeing his business thrive has been rewarding.

"All of these may seem tiring & daunting, but it’s definitely rewarding when you see the fruits of your labor. Hehe to those who are dreaming, keep chasing your dreams!" he stated.
