Veteran South Korean actress Lee Joo-shil dies: report

Veteran South Korean actress Lee Joo-shil has passed away. She was 80.

According an article published by Soompi, the sad news was confirmed by a representative from her agency 1230culture.

In the statement, it said that Lee was diagnosed with stomach cancer.

“Approximately three months ago, actress Lee Joo Shil’s health declined, and she was diagnosed with stomach cancer after an examination from the hospital,”  the agency stated.

Lee was previously diagnosed with breast cancer in 1993 and had won the battle after over 10 years.

Lee starred in various projects including  “Train to Busan,”  and “The Uncanny Counter.” She was also part of “Squid Game 2” as the mother of Hwang Jun Ho (Wi Ha Joon).
