Kapamilya stars KD Estrada and Alexa Ilacad were among the special guests in the recent "Juan in a Million" celebration of the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) in Manila.

The KDLex love team, also known as the country's "hottest musical pair," showcased their vocal prowess as they performed their rendition of "Love is an Open Door" from the Disney movie "Frozen."

HKTB's "Juan in a Million" event marked Hong Kong's record-breaking 1.2 million Filipino visitors in 2024. It was a major milestone and, of course, KDLex had to be there--after all, they played a huge role in their success.

The music video for Estrada's song "Be With U," which also featured Ilacad, is among HKTB's biggest celebrity-led initiatives for 2024 (the other being "Under Parallel Skies," a movie starring our very own Janella Salvador and Thailand's Win Metawin). Here, the KDLex tandem be seen exploring Hong Kong's hidden gems which were recommended to them by their fans.

"We have a lot of supporters from Hong Kong and we're very thankful for that," said Ilacad. "It's really surprising for us to know that we can reach Filipinos there, too."

Estrada, for his part, said: "The places they (fans) suggested were very vibrant and colorful, and it made the music video lively and fun."

For Estrada and Ilacad, Hong Kong will always be special. Beyond having a dedicated fan base there, they have also marked a couple of firsts in Asia's World City.

Aside from the "Be With U" music video, the two starred in "Toss Coin," a 2023 microfilm that was also set in Hong Kong. It was part of the HKTB-led series "Hong Kong in the Lens By Asian Directors," and serves as KDLex's international film debut.

And like many Filipinos, Estrada and Ilacad have traveled to Hong Kong many times. 

"It's a great destination because of how accessible it is. It's only a couple of hours away," noted Estrada, adding that the city offers something for everyone. "If you're a foodie, you can spend the trip just eating; if you're a shopaholic, you can go to malls, outlets, and markets with unlimited choices."

Ilacad, for her part, said: "It's got everything I would like, everything I would need -- whether I'm in the mood for something quiet and calm, or I want to go and party." 

"And it's also very family-friendly. I'm actually going back soon to celebrate my birthday!" added the actress, who will turn 25 on February 26.

During the "Juan in a Million" event, HKTB executive director Dane Cheng commended the KDLex love team for their efforts to promote Hong Kong, along with other local celebrities, influencers, and members of the media. 

"As we look forward to 2025, we have no intention of slowing down," Cheng declared. "We remain committed to staying one step ahead and providing visitors with a million reasons to explore Hong Kong."

Liew Chian Jia, HKTB's regional director for Southeast Asia, for her part gave a preview of the city's upcoming offerings such as the debut of twin panda cubs at Ocean Park Hong Kong, a new Disneyland castle stage show, and the opening of hotels, event spaces, and sports venues.
