After he successfully auditioned for the ABS-CBN's reality boyband search, Pinoy Boyband Superstar in 2016, actor and singer Joao Constancia has not looked back since then. The 28-year-old Star Magic artist said he is looking forward to promising work opportunities in 2025.

“I auditioned for a big project. Sana matanggap ko. It’s a really big one so hopefully I get it. I can’t say much about it muna. But I guess I”ve grown more into a better actor. I’ve learned a lot these past few years and I’m still enjoying what I’m doing talaga. I’ve learned a lot form my past shows. But there’s still a lot to learn,” he told PUSH ABS-CBN in an exclusive interview during a Premier Drip’s S-Acetyl Glutathione event held in Makati City.

Last year, Joao was part of the hit primetime series Can’t Buy Me Love. He has also been in series like He’s Into Her and Ngayon at Kailanman as well as other kapamilya shows like Maalaala Mo Kaya, Ipaglaban Mo, and Wansapanataym. Joao admitted he still enjoys portraying younger roles onscreen.

“I can still go for the boy-next-door roles kasi some people say pa nga I have a baby face so pasok pa ako sa mga younger age roles, yung mga pang-high school or college pa. I’m happy with that but also at the same time, I’m open to taking more serious roles of course. I want to show a different side of my acting skills. Anything. As an actor, I want to be versatile. That’s it,” he added.

At showbiz events, Joao has consistently displayed his confident and unique style sense even during his BoyBandPH days. The fashion forward actor is not shy to admit why he goes against the grain when it comes to stepping out in style.

“I guess I am experimental. I don’t mind wearing a skirt or big dresses or like feminine clothes also. Because I wear girl clothes also. I buy women clothing also. Pants, tops, jackets, because they have nice proportions for my body type. Why not wear flowers? Wear whatever you want, whatever makes you happy. That’s all that matters. Just don’t care about what other people think about you. That’s it,” he shared.

Joao also shared what acting opportunity he would love to receive in order to add to his career.

“Honestly, I’ve been saying this in a lot of interviews. I like to do something psycho thriller. Hindi ko pa nagagawa so I want something like that. Because it’s interesting. For example, akala mo talaga yung bida he’s a good guy pero in the end there’s a plot twist and stuff. So I want to do something like a psychological thriller, ganun,” he said.

In a previous interview, Joao also said he is also open to being paired up in a love team. “I would love to be known as a solo actor. I want to be known because of my abilities, because of my acting. Yun lang talaga. Pero if I was given the opportunity, then why not? It’s always great to be paired. I’m willing to work naman with any lady,” he added.

Born and raised in Macau, Joao has always been vocal about always being a FIlipino at heart even from the start. He was also linked to actress Sue Ramirez whom he dated until 2019.
