Megastar Sharon Cuneta is still in shock after learning about the passing of Gloria Romero.

Sharon worked with Gloria on numerous movies and her guestings in "Palibhasa Lalake", and the megastar shared a number of invisible strings that connected them together.

“Nagulat ako, I only found out yesterday. Late ko na nalaman. Nung nasabihan ako, nagulat ako.”

She shared, “Shooting namin sa ‘Oras-oras, araw-araw’, ‘Bakit ikaw pa rin?’, guestings ko sa Palibhasa Lalake. Si Maritess, yung anak niya, since grade school, schoolmate ko sa St. Paul, tapos ka-birthday pa ni Tita Gloria si Frankie.”

A vivid portrait of Gloria is still in her mind when she last saw the movie icon. “The last time I saw her, matagal na yun, pero she was so healthy, happy saka tuwing merong nawawala sa industriya lalo na pag reyna, lalo na pag nakasama mo sa pelikula, at napakabuti niya sa yo.”

“Feeling ko, nabawasan na naman tayo ng pillar sa industry. It’s a very sad day,” Sharon said.

Primetime Kapamilya actress Cherry Pie Picache also paid her last respects to Tita Glo, as her showbiz peers fondly called her.

“As a young actor before, or somebody who loves films, mahilig ako pinapanood ko talaga sila. Yung black and white pag afternoon, pinapanood ko yan lahat. If there are two actresses that I really admire and idolize - Lolita Rodriguez and Gloria Romero.”

Cherry Pie would always treasure that moment she worked with Tita Glo on the movie "Tanging Yaman’"

“I was honored to be able to work with Tita Glo. I did ‘Tanging Yaman’ with her.”

“Iniidolize mo yung beauty inside out, but if you get to meet her as a person, yun yung gift niya. The priviledge of you knowing her, it’s her beauty inside.”

She added, “Napaka-unassuming na tao with all her accolades and ano, napaka-kind hindi marunong magalit. Napakagandang kaluluwa.”

‘Mabuting tao’

Showbiz personalities like Joey Reyes, Amy Perez, Liza Lorena and Leo Martinez arrived at the wake earlier today. Star for all seasons Vilma Santos-Recto also visited the wake, and arrived with Tirso Cruz III.

Before the mass, Vilma and Tirso, together with other celebrities were given a chance to speak and share their fondest memories and messages of love for Gloria.

“Given na yun na mabuti siyang tao,” said Vilma. “Maaalala namin siya as empress eh, Empress of the movie world. Pero mas maraming humahanga sa kanya bilang isang mabuting tao.”

She added, “She is the perfect model of good manners and right conduct. Good moral values, hanggang sa huling sandali. Si Tita Glo ang nagpakita ng ganyan. Even how to be respectable, how to be presentable, how to act properly.”

Vilma worked with Gloria on numerous movies. In fact, Vilma, at nine years old, already had the opportunity to work with Gloria on her second movie "Anak, ang iyong Ina"

Meanwhile, Tirso Cruz III recalled about five to six films that he did with Tita Glo. But, “Ang memory ko sa kanya, hindi sa pelikula”, Tirso says.

“It’s more of having the opportunity to get to know her as a person. She’s really special. She has a way with everything. The way she walks, the way she talks kahit mabagal.”
