After representing Quezon City at the recently concluded Miss Supermodel Worldwide Philippines competition and taking home the crown, 26-year-old Charyzah Esparrago admitted she was still surprised by the outcome despite going through three months of rigorous training to prepare for the night.

“Well of course it’s always up to the judges at the end of the day, but I was really excited for whatever was going to happen. I felt really honored. But honestly I was surprised every single time because every girl worked so hard so they’re all deserving. But best believe that when the sash was on me, I really felt all of the support and all of my hard work being recognized in that moment. They were a lot (of awards) and I can’t wait to put the flowers in my house and give them to Sto. Niño and Mama Mary,” she shared during the post-pageant interviews held at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Pasay City.

Apart from winning the title, Charyzah also took home the most number of special awards throughout the night like Supermodel Best Speaker, Darling of the Press, Runway Supermodel, Charity Award, Best in Swimsuit, Best in Evening Gown, and Best in Filipiñana.

“I think it was just being in the moment. When I went on that stage, the only thing on my mind was you are wearing a work of art, it is your job to deliver it, and deliver it, I hope I did. Up until they called my name, I was praying and hoping it was me. I’m really honored it was,” she revealed.

Charyzah explained to the press why she speaks with an American accent. “My mom is from Cebu and my dad is from Masbate. I was born in Mandaluyong. I moved to the States when I was two years old and lived there until I was 17. I actually moved to the Philippines when I was 17 years old from Chicago in the United States.

"I was in a food court in Cebu and someone approached me and said, ‘Would you like to try pageantry?’ I had some time and I really wanted to take that risk and learn my confidence and my pasarela, so I said yes. Ever since then, modeling and pageantry have been a part of my life,” she shared.

Aside from modeling, the newly crowned Miss Supermodel Worldwide Philippines winner revealed how she has always dreamed of getting into acting. “I would love to! That’s something I’ve always wanted to do. I actually have been plays and acting workshops so if the opportunity arises then you know where to find me (laughs),” she admitted.

A Communication Research graduate from UP Diliman, the statuesque teacher revealed she already won a local title in 2020.

“My title was Binibining Quezon City Karunungan. But other than that, I did MIss World Philippines where I got to the head to head challenge. So this is my fifth pageant but this is my first crown where I will be representing the Philippines. I am so excited for the international pageant to be here in the Philippines because this is an opportunity for our tourism. This is a great chance to showcase our local fashion fashion designers, our creatives, our photographers, makeup artists, hairstylists. They bring the beauty in beauty pageants and the art in modeling."
