Veteran singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid posted on Instagram to share a heartwarming moment from his daughter Leila Alcasid’s recent pamanhikan — a traditional Filipino pre-wedding custom where families of the couple formally meet to discuss the wedding.

In his post, Alcasid expressed his gratitude and joy over the intimate gathering, which brought together the families of Leila and her fiancé, Mito Curtis. 

“Last night’s very emotional pamanhikan,” Alcasid wrote, describing the event as a beautiful and meaningful celebration of love and unity.

The "It's Showtime" host also extended his thanks to Michelle Van Eimeren, Leila’s mom, who delivered a touching speech that moved everyone to tears. He shared how the evening was made even more special by the presence of his wife, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, whom he lovingly referred to as “Baba,” as she serenaded the guests with songs that delighted everyone.

Although Van Eimeren’s husband Mark Morrow was unable to attend, Alcasid assured him they were looking forward to seeing him soon. He also expressed his appreciation to the Sibal family for hosting the evening with a delicious dinner and drinks for all.

“Ty Lord for uniting all our families to celebrate the love of Mito and Leila,” Alcasid wrote, emphasizing his gratitude for the blessing of witnessing such a milestone in his daughter’s life. He ended his post by expressing excitement for the upcoming union of the couple and reminding them of the family’s love and support.

Leila, who is also a singer and songwriter like her father, has been open about her relationship with Mito Curtis, sharing glimpses of their journey on social media.
