PH bet MJ Macalintal hopes to snatch Man Hot Star crown

Mark Joseph "MJ" Macalintal hopes to claim the Man Hot Star crown after having a successful stint in the Mister Grand Philippines last mid-November.

Macalintal, a 23-year old culinary technology graduate from the Techonological University of the Philippines, will represent the Philippines in the Man Hot Star International pageant to be held in Bangkok, Thailand early December. 

The 5’11 Sangguniang Kabataan chairperson in Caloocan city, is the son of character actor Dennis Coronel.

During his send-off event, Macalintal expressed his readiness for the upcoming competition.

"Naglaan po ako ng time for training, yung pasarela ko. Nandun pa rin po yung momentum nung stage ko dun sa Mister Grand Philippines. Feeling ko, ready naman ako lumaban” said Macalintal.

As part of his preparation, Macalintal reviewed past videos of the international pageant.

“Based po sa previous videos nila, pinapanood ko po kasi, parang nakikita ko na same siya sa Mister Grand (PH), this Man Hot Star is about self-explanatory and how you express yourself using the platform of Man Hot Star,” he said.

Macalintal, together with the other candidates of Mister Grand Philippines, underwent Q&A training with award-winning host Boy Abunda.

When asked if he has plans to enter and continue showbizness like his father, he said: “Ang lagi niya pong inaadvise sa akin is yung health ko po, mas pahalagahan ko po. Kasi yung project nandiyan lang yan, pero yung kalusugan pwedeng mawala.”

As for his advocacy, Macalintal wants to champion on quality education for the youth.

Despite the controversies surrounding the past winner of the pageant, the Philippines will still send Macalintal to compete.
