Photo from Karylle's Instagram accountMANILA — Singer and "It's Showtime" host Karylle announced Sunday the death of her father Modesto Tatlonghari.

The announcement was made through an Instagram post, where the singer also shared photos from the wake at the Santuario de San Jose Parish in Mandaluyong City.

"It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of my dad, Papa M, Doc, Dr. ‘M,’ Moy, Tito M," Karylle wrote in the post's caption without stating the cause of death and when he passed away.

In the lengthy caption, Karylle described her father as a "great guy" who "always [brightened] up people’s days."

"A Baguio boy (and Laguna lad!) at heart and topnotcher at the dental board, he loved basketball and his no-look shot. He loved picnics and always had a neon pink frisbee and a basketball in the trunk of a lift back," she said.

Karylle also praised her father for being "truly present in school events," adding that he was "everyone’s dream dad."

She added that it meant "so much" for her that her father saw her latest theater outing, "Little Shop of Horrors," four times.

"'Little Shop of Horrors' was our favorite movie and, like him, a happy part of my childhood. It breaks my heart that I couldn't have spent more time with him," she said.

Several celebrities expressed their condolences on the post's comments section, including Lea Salonga, Sharon Cuneta, Pops Fernandez, and fellow "It's Showtime" host Amy Perez, among others.

Karylle is the daughter of Tatlonghari and veteran singer ZsaZsa Padilla. The two separated in 1987.
