One of the most famous rock stars of the last four decades shared the story of grit and determination that fueled his start in the industry in the documentary series, “Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story.”

Jon Bon Jovi, its frontman, reflected on his relentless drive to make music even in the face of early rejections.

"Sheer will, blind faith, naiveté, youth -- all of those elements are very integral because I was so young," he said of nurturing the right mindset in his career. "Little incremental steps early on made me believe that it could happen."

Bon Jovi added: "I was fortunate enough to have that success and write 'Runaway' and get a record deal when I was still 20 or 21 years old."

Through personal videos and never-before-seen photos, the docu-series chronicles the band’s phenomenal rise and global superstardom, as well as the setbacks and heartbreaks that they encountered through the years.

In the documentary, Bon Jovi also shared a revealing look into the devastating hardship that he went through when a serious vocal injury made him doubt if he would ever sing again.

The series also shows the 62-year-old rock legend facing his mortality and the realities of aging.

"We didn't want to make a vanity piece here," he said. "I didn't want it just to be my story. It had to be our collective story. So, band members, past and present, all got to speak their truth."

"That is in fact, the only reason to do something like this," the veteran singer added. "And we're very proud of the outcome."

Award-winning documentarian Gotham Chopra, who also directed Kobe Bryant’s 2015 documentary “Muse,” is the filmmaker behind the four-part Bon Jovi docu-series.

"Being a rock star isn't particularly relatable, but being a human being who's struggling with something is," he said. "I just felt like this will give all that even more magic. It'll make it feel more urgent. So, as a storyteller, I was drawn to it. Jon was very open."

This June, Bon Jovi will also release their latest album, "Forever.”

“Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story” will be on Disney+ and Hulu starting April 26.
