“We won’t lose hope.”

These were the words of actor Marlo Mortel on Thursday, a day after he asked for prayers for his cancer-stricken mother, Merlie Pamintuan, who has been transferred under critical care.

Mortel, 25, shared a glimpse of his mother’s condition through an Instagram video, where he is seen dedicating to her “A Way Back Into Love” with singer Morissette Amon.

“I hope this cheered you up, mommy,” he wrote.

A separate photo showing his hand holding his mother’s had a similarly emotional caption: “We’re all holding on, Mommy. Please don’t let go.”

Mortel has been open about his family grappling with the condition of his mother, who was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014.

Last year, he organized a benefit concert to raise funds for Pamintuan's medical expenses, and in February composed and shared a song he had written for her.
