Nine-year-old Marjorie, known fo her ‘You do note’ viral video, will appear in the July 28 episode of ‘Gandang Gabi Vice’ as well as an upcoming episode of ‘Kadenang Ginto.’ ABS-CBN

MANILA — You do note there’s been a ubiquitous meme of a girl channeling several “Kadenang Ginto” characters in a selfie video.

Well, that 9-year-old is finally on her way to the hit afternoon drama to “lift and muzzle” (her words) the characters who inspired her viral clips, according to a showrunner.

The spunky girl Marjorie became a familiar face to “Kadenang Ginto” fans as early as April, when her adorable mash-up of scenes from the top-rating series first made the rounds online.

Mimicking the fierceness of the feuding Mondragons, Marjorie uttered lines that, while not precise, were readily identifiable to the confrontations she was re-enacting. Among them were Daniela (Dimples Romana) prohibiting Cassie (Francine Diaz) from going to school, and Marga (Andrea Brillantes) insulting Cassie over the latter’s blooming romance with Kristoff (Kyle Echarri).

By July, the popularity of Marjorie’s videos snowballed to meme proportions, notably following Daniela’s own “world tour” meme which even secured actress Romana a stint with the Department of Tourism.

“You do note,” a phrase Marjorie says several times in one clip, has become the popular term for the meme — and has even attracted grammar scrutiny from actual language groups. Vibal Group “cracked the code” by proofreading the video’s transcript, while an English research page explained why the phrase is grammatically correct, giving a quick lesson on the emphatic form of verbs.

Some fans went the extra mile to provide the context of Marjorie’s lines, including Gerrich Martinote, whose edited videos combining the “You do note” audio with visuals of the source material — to hilarious results — have garnered millions of views on Facebook.

These have become an educational aid for Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto, whose recent announcement of class suspensions on Twitter was met with a flood of Marjorie’s line: “Cassie, hindi ka muna papasok sa school.” Confused, Sotto sought the help of “Kadenang Ginto” fans so he would understand the reference, and they obliged.

Marjorie also inspired creativity on Twitter, where her “collaboration” with rapper Eminem went viral, and where a “TV Patrol” report about mysterious sounds from the sky — Marjorie’s rapid-fire speech — sowed “fear” among viewers. Add to those a collection of phone lock screens, with texts like, “Da Liar is Ma Peyk” — another line from the girl that’s gained traction on social media.

Celebrities were not to be outdone, with actor Christian Bables doing an impeccable TikTok dub, singer Jason Dy performing an acoustic parody, and no less than “Kadenang Ginto” stars Diaz and Brillantes delivering their respective character’s lines, as interpreted by Marjorie.

Throughout the past month that Marjorie has become an honorary Mondragon on social media, her identity and the origin of her videos remained a mystery — that is, until her real-life “confrontation” with the stars of “Kadenang Ginto.”

That will be seen in the July 28 episode of “Gandang Gabi Vice,” which marks Marjorie’s TV debut.

But that won’t be the last fans will see of Marjorie with the cast of her favorite series. Jojo Saguin, one of the directors of “Kadenang Ginto,” confirmed with ABS-CBN News Thursday that there is a planned appearance of Marjorie in the actual teleserye.

According to Saguin, they had considered Marjorie to be a student in Maxwell, the same school Marga and Cassie go to, but at age 9, the girl is too young to be in the same group. The writers, she said, are finalizing the Internet star’s place in the story — likely as a part of Romina’s (Beauty Gonzalez) neighborhood.
