HOLLYWOOD – At her despedida de soltera, a Filipino tradition of celebrating the end of one’s single life, former Disney star Anna Maria Perez de Tagle said she’s far from being a “bridezilla” because her wedding planning experience has been smooth sailing.

“It takes a few months to do a movie right? So I’ve been preparing for a good five to six months for this. It’s been really a journey and I am just happy to get married soon,” she said.

The actress said she fell in love quickly with Scott Kline Jr., her husband-to-be who is half-Filipino.

“I met him about two years ago. We were set up by my cousin. Our first date was actually at Disneyland. At the end of the night, he gave me a bouquet of flowers and drove me home. Very formal, very Filipino. Super ligaw like in the Filipino way which was very refreshing,” she said.

While she is used to the camera, Kline, an engineer by profession, isn’t. But the couple said it won’t be a problem.

“He’s very supportive of my career but if I ever do decide to take a break because of kids, he’s supportive of that also. But I still plan to still act, sing. We are still living in LA so we’ll be fine with that,” she said.

Her whole family, including her grandmother Sylvia la Torre, an icon of Original Pilipino Music, is excited for the couple to begin their life together.

“Napakabait. Mabuti naman at mahal na mahal niya ang apo ko. I wish her all the happiness with her husband in her whole life,” said la Torre.

Her wedding gown was especially made by Oliver Tolentino. It took five months for the gown to be completed with the Hollywood-based Filipino designer taking care of all the intricate details that the design entailed.

“I am so honored to be a ninong and also a designer for Anna Maria. I have been dressing her up since she was 16 years old. We collaborated with the design of the wedding gown and sabi ko, ‘Anna, what’s your dream wedding gown and I will make that dream come true?’” said Tolentino.

The couple will tie the knot on June 29 in Los Angeles.
