MANILA - Barbie Imperial cannot believe that she will now headline her own ABS-CBN series opposite actor JM de Guzman.

Speaking on “Magandang Buhay” on Thursday, Imperial said she is still not used to being called the newest Kapamilya leading lady.

“Sobrang saya po kasi dati maliit na roles lang 'yung ginagampanan ko. Ngayon po, sobrang sarap sa feeling na tawagin ka bilang leading lady,” she said.

With this big break, the former "Pinoy Big Brother" housemate from Albay promised to do her best so she could continue providing for her family financially.

“Sobrang saya ko kasi hindi na po kami 'yung tulad ng dati na nahihirapan kami. Minsan sa isang araw, hindi namin alam kung saan kukuhain 'yung kakainin namin. Sobrang hirap po ng buhay namin dati. Ngayon masaya ako kasi natutulungan ko 'yung nanay ko, si Kuya Bryce,” she said.

Imperial and de Guzman will be working together for the first time on the upcoming "Precious Hearts Romances Presents Araw Gabi."

This is also de Guzman's first TV project in two years.

ABS-CBN has yet to reveal more details on their roles and the series’ actual release date.

The drama will be directed by Theodore Boborol ("Just the Way You Are," "Vince & Kath & James"), and produced by RSB Drama Unit, the same group behind the hit afternoon drama "Wildflower."
