MANILA – Stylist and makeup artist Fanny Serrano joined the ongoing discussion on who should replace actress Angel Locsin as Darna in Star Cinema’s upcoming film.

In an Instagram post, Serrano suggested bringing back the concept of having two actresses portray the superhero Darna and her host body, Narda.

“Natatandaan ko noong maliit pa ako at napapanood ko ang Darna noong early '50s na si Rosa del Rosario ang gumanap [at] ibang character ang gumanap bilang si Narda, at siya ay si Mila Nimpa,” Serrano wrote.

He went on to explain why Darna and Narda are two separate characters.

“Si Darna kasi ay isang superheroine galing sa outer space ready to defend our mother earth from evil forces and she is manifesting through a rural girl on earth named Narda na pipilay-pilay at may bunsong kapatid na si Ding… Ginagamit lang ni Darna ang katawan ni Narda sa pamamagitan ng paglunok ng mahiwagang bato,” he wrote.

“So, let’s be logical… kung ang image nga naman ni Darna ay makikita pa rin sa image ni Narda, makikilala na agad siya ng mga kalaban niya at madali siyang mapatay… At ‘yun ‘yung reason ng inconsistency na nakikita ko sa mga Millennium Darna ngayon… ang bidang artista na ang gumaganap sa role na Narda at Darna.”

Serrano believes that Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach is a fitting choice to portray Darna, while actress Kiray Celis would suit the role of Narda.

“Para sa akin, ang pinaka-perfect na dapat pumalit sa kanya (Locsin) ay si Pia Wurtzbach na mala-Wonder Woman ang porma, at ang dapat na si Narda ay walang iba kundi si Kiray na super layo ng image kay Pia bilang Darna… At sino ang maghihinalang si Narda ay si Darna? For sure, it will be an honest-to-goodness adventure ng isang original story,” he wrote.

Wurtzbach, a former actress, said in a previous interview that she has not bagged the role of Darna as ABS-CBN has other plans for her showbiz comeback.

Celis, Serrano’s muse, has yet to comment on the matter.
