As Rodimer Baselotte, a tricycle driver from Cebu, was about to begin his performance, one couldn't help but wonder what the doll he brought along and placed on a seat next to him was for.

As it turned out, it was nothing but a prop that could've cost him his place in the next round, with the "Pilipinas Got Talent" judges noting that it only served to distract them from his highly emotional and captivating cover of Freddie Aguilar's "Anak."

"Ang lupit mo palang kumanta," said Angel Locsin, who added that he should get rid of the doll next time.

Baselotte said he joined the contest hoping to have some money to pay for his electric bills. He also said that his dream is to become a famous singer on television.

He took one step toward achieving both goals on Saturday, after winning over the judges and passing his audition.
