There's no arguing that Bruno Mars is one of the most popular singers in the world today. But the "24K Magic" hitmaker admitted that he'll gladly trade away his fame if he could again be with his Filipina mother, who died from a brain aneurysm back in 2013.

Speaking with Latina Magazine, Mars said of his Pinay mom Bernadette San Pedro Bayot: "She's more than my music. If I could trade music to have her back, I would. I always hear her say, 'Keep going and keep doing it.'"

Mars also shared that his mother was the one who taught him "to love" and showed him "what a woman is supposed to be."

"You just gotta know that she’s with me everywhere I go," he added. "It's something that you can't imagine – the pain and the things that you keep going back to: 'I wish I would've done this or said this.' You just have to see life differently. It shows you the real importance of life. Nothing else matters in this world but family and your loved ones."

Born Peter Hernandez, Mars was one of Bayot's six children. His father is a Puerto Rican named Pedrito Hernandez.

After the sudden passing of his mother, Mars wrote on Twitter: "So thankful for all the love during the most difficult time in my life. I'll be back on my feet again soon. That's what mom wants, she told me."
