And to celebrate how it kickstarted a creative boom in the local rap industry, its organizers have announced plans for what would be the biggest hip-hop music festival in the country's history.

The "FlipTop Festival" is a two-day event, set for February 7 and 8 at the concert grounds of Aseana City, Parañaque, that will feature more than 200 artists from all over the Philippines.

Led by OPM icon Gloc-9, the others in the lineup are Shanti Dope, PriceTagg, Ron Henley, Al James, Illustrado, Smugglaz, Dello, Kemikal Ali, Arbie Won, Abra, Shehyee, Supreme Fist, Shernan, Sino, Tipsy D, and Zaito, to name some stand-outs.

Two US-based artists, Bambu and Rocky Rivera, have also been tapped for a performance, a bid to showcase the cream of contemporary hip-hop and rap.

There will also be a "Dos Por Dos" type of battle rap showdown between Sinio and Tipsy D against Jonas and Lhipkram, a special treat for fans of the FlipTop format.
