MANILA – Jobert Sucaldito was criticized on Wednesday after he reacted in an elaborate manner to Nadine Lustre’s statement slamming Philippine Star editor and columnist Ricky Lo.

During their DZMM program “Showbuzz” on Monday, Sucaldito and Ahwell Paz extensively talked about Lustre’s Instagram post where she belied rumors of her separation with James Reid.

Sucaldito noted that he did not like the tone Lustre used in correcting Lo over his report. He also called out Lustre and Reid’s fans.

Sinisisi ang media for proliferating daw a fake news about the hiwalayan issue. Ibabalik namin sa inyo ang tanong. Sino ba ang nagpauna nito? Malay naman namin na may problema ang dalawang ito kung hindi sa mga post nila,” he said.

Towards the latter part of the show, Sucaldito continued to address the couple’s supporters, and even made an inappropriate statement about committing suicide.

Si Ricky Lo tuloy kinawawa pa ng isang Nadine Lustre lamang,” the radio host said.

Sucaldito’s comments did not sit well among netizens that his name and the hashtag #SuicideIsNotAJokeJobert became a hot topic on Twitter Wednesday.

Meanwhile, ABS-CBN News head Ging Reyes issued an official statement via Twitter regarding the matter.

“We in ABS-CBN News take the issue of mental health very seriously. This was even the subject of a recent documentary that was produced. We are investigating reports that DZMM host Jobert Sucaldito uttered inappropriate and insensitive comments regarding actress Nadine Lustre’s state of mental health. Our journalists and other members of our team are accountable for their on-air statements,” the statement read.
