A simple “Tatay’s Boy ng Batangas” was all we knew from Joshua Garcia when he joined Pinoy Big Brother All In back in 2014. His dream was simply to finish his studies—a promise he made to his father, who had reunited with him after several years apart. Now, he’s achieving much more than he expected with his blossoming career and the support from thousands of beloved fans.

After people saw his charm and star potential on the reality show, Joshua was offered projects to act on television. His first role was in the 2015 drama Nasaan Ka Nang Kailangan Kita where he played Joel, a friend, and the eventual romantic interest of Bea. Bea was portrayed by Loisa Andalio, a fellow PBB All In housemate Joshua sparked chemistry with.

Joshua proved he isn’t a one-shot wonder. He started to get cemented in the industry as a prime actor in TV and films. In the longest-running drama anthology Maalaala Mo Kaya, he has taken on countless roles. Each one is more challenging than the next. As he’s helping bring true stories to life, he is tasked with more than developing a character.

In the 2016 MMK episode “Puno,” he played Ernesto, a gay man who feels comfortable expressing his femininity more. However, he was also in love with a woman, making it hard to believe in society’s eyes. Regardless, he fought for their love and showed that it was true.

Another notable role that Joshua played on MMK was his first television project with then love team partner Julia Barretto. In the episode entitled “Bituin,” they played lovers where the girl faced the deathly disease of cancer while the guy struggled with the pain of seeing their loved one suffer.

Joshua also acted in episodes featuring him as a son living with an adopted stranger, a soldier in war, a boy rekindling romance with a former lover, and a man sacrificing his dreams for his family. He also had a short stint on the legal drama anthology Ipaglaban Mo.

Outside of drama anthologies, Joshua also showed his acting prowess in more teleseryes. In the 2016 drama The Greatest Love, he played Z, who has a loving relationship with his grandmother, but a complicated one with his mother. Joshua demonstrated the different levels of emotion he could portray and jived alongside talented artists such as Sylvia Sanchez and Dimples Romana.

The following year, he garnered attention for playing Inno in Ngayon at Kailanman with Julia. With his skills further sharpened in the genre of drama and romance, his next television role was taken a step further. The 2021 thriller series Viral Scandal highlighted how he has grown as an actor through the years.

Many commended Joshua for his portrayal of Architect Kyle Constantino on Viral Scandal. Not only did he exude exciting chemistry with co-star Charlie Dizon, but he also shone in serious scenes that needed complex emotions of a person who has experienced trauma.

Now, Joshua is set to add action stunts under his belt of talents with his upcoming role in the ABS-CBN series Mars Ravelo’s Darna. He’ll be playing Brian Robles, a police officer that crosses paths with Narda (Jane de Leon). It’s hinted that he’ll be caught in a complicated love triangle between Narda and Regina (played by Janella Salvador). Because of this, jealousy would consume Regina, further fueling her wrath as the snake-haired woman Valentina. How will Brian rise from all of this?
