Charleston (Albie Casiño) may not be a perfect brother to Caroline (Belle Mariano). His anger issues are evident and he's made some mistakes in the past, yet beneath these flaws lies his genuine commitment to love and protect his younger sister.

Despite the complexities of their family, he strives to be the best ‘ahiya' to her, as shown in this Kapamilya Toplist video from “Can’t Buy Me Love.”

Remember the time when Caroline caught Bettina (Kaila Estrada)’s fiancé, Eward (Enzo Pineda), cheating? Bettina was so blinded by love that she hated Caroline and accused her of making up rumors instead of confronting her boyfriend. But Charleston demonstrated his allegiance to Caroline, saying that he doesn’t side blindly with their youngest sister, but he’s all for the truth. That’s why he believes Edward must be the one to apologize and not Caroline. Besides, he asserted that his beloved ‘Ling’ is an honest woman.

His love extends beyond mere words. He's always found a way to be present in her life, like when he dropped by Aunt Cathy (Celeste Legaspi)’s restaurant where Caroline worked just to catch up with her. Even though he didn't say it outright, you could tell he was grateful when she asked about him, even with her own problems going on. Plus, when she promised to back him up and help him sort out that whole mess with the hacking scandal at work, it meant a lot to him.

In turn, when Charleston was feeling like the whole world was against him, in his darkest hour, he found comfort in knowing that there was Caroline, at least one person who had his back.

From his point of view, he thinks that part of protecting her is taking her away from Bingo (Donny Pangilinan), whom he believes is manipulating his sister just because he’s the son of Annie (Ina Raymundo), who has a dark past and is out for revenge against their family.

When Caroline started digging into the truth about her mom Divine (Shaina Magdayao)'s death and putting herself in risky situations, Charleston stepped in. He just wanted her to be safe and happy, he said. Even though he might have been hiding something, you could see he was genuinely worried about her, knowing her investigations could lead to trouble.

Charleston was always there for Caroline, making her feel loved like no one else could. So, you can imagine how much it hurt her when her investigations pointed to the possibility that someone in her own family, maybe even Charleston, could have been involved in her mom's death.

The whole situation pushed Charleston to come clean about what happened that night at Divine's place. He explained how he went there seeking clarity because he was in trouble as a teenager, and he trusted Divine to understand him. He witnessed a mysterious woman leaving the house, and when he went back inside, he was shocked to find Divine dead. He admits he should've spoken up about it sooner and now regrets staying silent. But deep down, he knows he loves Caroline and has always been fiercely protective of her.

It was touching to see Caroline set aside her pride and forgive her brother without hesitation. When he was about to leave her room, she called him back and hugged him right away. In her eyes, Charleston will forever be her 'aia', no matter what.
