MANILA (UPDATE) - The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas has terminated its contract with the supplier of the national ID, Finance Secretary Ralph Recto confirmed on Thursday.

In a message to ABS-CBN News, the finance chief and Monetary Board Member said the MB’s decision was “due to the supplier's non-compliance with the contract.”

The Philippine Statistics Authority also said it fully supports the decision of the BSP.

“The Philippine Statistics Authority trusts the assessment and decision of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas to terminate its contract with their supplier for the national ID card production,” PSA National Statistician Undersecretary Claire Dennis Mapa told to ABS-CBN News.

A source from the BSP also confirmed that the Monetary Board has decided to terminate the contract with the national ID printer. In a statement, the PSA said it is taking necessary measures to ensure that the issuance of national IDs will continue.

“We affirm our unwavering commitment to delivering a reliable and secure national ID system, ensuring that every registered person will receive their National ID,” Mapa said.

The PSA advised the public that aside from the physical ID, the national ID can be acquired in other formats.

Registered individuals can get their ePhilID from registration centers while the Digital National ID can be downloaded through https://national-id.gov.ph.
