MANILA - Seven Filipino businesswomen made it to the Fortune Most Powerful Women Asia (MPW Asia) list.

The highest-ranked Filipina on the list is GCash President and CEO Martha Sazon, who guided the Philippine fintech giant into a $5 billion valuation this year. Sazon was ranked no. 38 on the Fortune list of 100 of the most influential women business leaders in Asia.

Globe Telecom, GCash's parent firm, said Sazon was appointed as CEO during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and was able to triple its pre-pandemic user base to over 90 million Filipinos in 2023.

GCash is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, with the app having become virtually synonymous with electronic payments in the Philippines.
