MANILA - Jollibee Foods Corp on Thursday apologized to a member of the lesbian gay, bisexual and transgender community who complained of alleged discrimination in one of its offices.

Bunny Cadag, who works as an outsourced transcriber, claimed to not having been invited to return to Jollibee's Ortigas office after working there for a day.

Cadag's post on Facebook has received 3,000 "likes" and 1,500 shares. Cadag identifies as "gender queer."

Cadag sought a "formal explanation" from Jollibee. Cadag claimed to having been told that the company held Catholic beliefs and was "not welcoming" to the idea of a "transgender" in the workplace.

"We assure everyone that this is an isolated incident as JFC (Jollibee Foods Corp) does not in any way tolerate any disrespect, discrimination, harassment, violation, or intimidation of any person..." the country's largest fast food operator said.

"This experience has taught us that we should further heighten awareness and understanding of this policy across the organization," the company said.
