MANILA - J&T Express Philippines said Thursday it would cooperate with probes on the alleged cargo mishandling incident after President Rodrigo Duterte ordered the police to investigate complaints.

The embattled logistics firm went viral on social media after workers placed goods on the ground and appeared to throw parcels into a delivery truck. The workers were not wearing protective gear.

Duterte ordered the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) of the Philippine National Police (PNP), as well as the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to look into the complaints.

"We appreciate the concern expressed by the President towards our customers’ welfare as well as the well-being of our many partners and employees," J&T Express vice president Zoe Chi said in a statement released Wednesday.

"We will cooperate with the government in any investigation that it will conduct. We are committed to improving our services for the benefit of the public," she added.

J&T Express branding manager Leonardo Alampay earlier said the behavior of the workers "violates every single standard procedure" and can be grounds for termination.

J&T Express said it was conducting its own internal investigation.
