MANILA - Security Bank on Thursday announced that it has fully restored services affected by "a delay" in posting transactions earlier this week.

"Security Bank is pleased to inform our valued customers that our maintenance activity has been completed and all services that were affected by the delay are now available," an official statement from the bank read.

It did not provide details on services affected by the delay.

Security Bank, the country's sixth largest lender, is the third bank to encounter problems in its system this month.

It encountered the system error on Tuesday, a day before the Senate initiated an inquiry into recent issues in the banking sector.

On Wednesday, BDO Unibank confirmed at a Senate hearing that seven of its automated teller machines in three undisclosed locations were compromised by "skimming devices," which copies data from an ATM card for replication.

Reports of skimming of BDO accounts came Friday, just a week after an "internal error" paralyzed electronic services of Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI).

The June 6 BPI "internal glitch," which saw incorrect postings of withdrawals and deposits, suspended transactions at automated teller machines, cash acceptance machines, and point of sale systems for two days.

At the Senate hearing, BPI assured the public that the error did not lead to any data breach.
