MANILA - Ayala Corp's energy subsidiary said Wednesday it was on track to reach its target to build capacity to 2,000 megawatts by 2020.

AC Energy, which operates, wind, solar and coal-fired power plants currently has a capacity of 1,600 MW, said its CEO John Eric Francia.

Solar and wind are the "future" of power generation and the competitiveness of renewables will improve as storage capacity increases, he said.

Aside from the Philippines, AC Energy also has interests in Indonesia and Vietnam.
