SM donates P170 million in medical supplies for COVID-19 fight

SM donates personal protective equipment and other medical supplies to hospitals nationwide as the COVID-19 crisis grips the country. Handout photo

MANILA - Retail, banking and property giant SM said on Tuesday it donated some P170 million worth of personal protective equipment and other medical supplies to over 50 hospitals nationwide.

The company said that through its SM Foundation, it hoped to ensure that healthcare workers have PPEs and testing becomes more widely available. It also seeks to provide ICU-grade ventilators to help hospitals manage severe cases.

SM said that among the hospitals that received PPE donations as of March 27, are the following:

- Philippine General Hospital
- Lung Center of the Philippines
- Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital

Major Government Hospitals:

- Research Institute for Tropical Medicine
- National Kidney and Transplant Institute
- San Lazaro Hospital
- East Avenue Medical Center
- Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center
- Philippine Heart Center
- National Children’s Hospital
- Rizal Medical Center

SM said it donated medical supplies to the Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital, Chinese General Hospital, University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center, Manila Doctors Hospital, University of Sto. Tomas Hospital, Makati Medical Center, The Medical City, Ospital ng Muntinlupa, and several others.

Several shipments of PPEs were also sent to hospitals in Rizal, Pampanga, Bataan, Quezon, Pangasinan, Catanduanes, Cebu, Iloilo, Samar, Tacloban, Surigao del Sur, Cagayan de Oro, Davao, Marawi, and Zamboanga, the company said.
