We're all K-drama fanatics one way or another. Here at METRO though, we're self-confessed geeks, having formed the Metro K-Drama Club, having live discussions about dramas we love, and more. So just a couple of months ago, it was truly a dream come true for us Metro Editors to head over to the motherland—Seoul, South Korea, to live our K-drama dreams!

One one of our days in Seoul, we were lucky enough to score a slot at the famed Jenny House Salon in Gangnam, a beauty haven known to be the go-to for Korean celebrities like Song Ji-hyo, Han So-hee, Kim Tae-ri, and Son Ye-jin! While in Seoul, it's only right to get a firsthand experience of K-beauty, don't you think?

The salon can be found at the upscale neighborhood of Cheongdam Hill in Gangnam, where a lot of high-end stores and boutiques can be found. The salon has five floors for makeup, hair, and nails. They also have private rooms and dressing rooms for VIPs. It already sounds like a scene out of a K-drama, right?

The salon primarily is known for wedding-related services, as we saw when we visited. The salon was busy and buzzing as they had a wedding client in the house. Once you arrive, you get a consultation about what you want to have done—either a haircut, hair spa or treatment, or the full hair and makeup service. Most of us went for the hairstyling and makeup service as we wanted to be transformed into K-drama leading ladies—even for just one day!

We were led to lockers where we were able to leave our thick jackets (it was about 2 degrees outside) and we were also able to leave our other belongings. We were then given robes to wear for the duration of the visit.

Jenny House products

Each beauty station is decked with Jenny House products, ones you can actually purchase and take home with you so you can re-create the looks they create. In Manila though, Jenny House products are exclusively available at Areum Manila, for when you run out!

Our experience involved shampoo and conditioning of the hair, which was very relaxing, and after which we proceeded to get our makeup and hairstyling done. We were taught how to use every product, so could get K-drama-ready hair every single day when we got back to Manila!

The salon is equipped with advanced hair technology and machines

What's interesting about the makeup process in the salon is that usually, two to three people do your makeup, and another two do the hair. Several different kinds of brushes were used for the makeup and they really try to cover all dark spots on your face. As we see in K-dramas, flawless, spotless skin is always key. For the lashes, they used a heated stick to curl them. Refreshments were offered while we were getting made up, too.

All in all it was a pretty interesting experience, and a great one at that for K-beauty lovers like ourselves. We recommend you try visiting a Korean salon when you're in Seoul, just to get the complete feel of the beauty scene (apart from of course, shopping 'til you drop in the K-beauty shops in Myeongdong!)

The Jenny House Charity Donation Party

Our dear friend and official distributor of Jenny House in the Philippines Terry Dy also visited Seoul recently to attend the salon's exclusive event—the Charity Donation Party where a lot of K-celebrities went! It was held in Jenny House Cheongdam Hill. Actress Nana was present, and so was K-drama favorite Song Ji-hyo! Other VIPs in attendance were PENTAGON's Kino and Wooseok, Sistar, Woo Ji-won, Ryu Soo-jung of Lovelyz, Kim Ji-yeon, and XODIAC.
