Picture this: it’s 9pm, you’re binge-watching your latest K-drama obsession after a long day, and even with all the plot twists one can ever fit in a single episode, you can’t help but still fixate on the lead actress’ amazing skin. You wonder how anyone’s skin can be that perfect. And that maybe gives you extra inspiration to do your skincare routine before bed.

But since we’re being honest here and this is a safe place, know that a lot of it has something to do with just having good genes. Those are the kind of external factors that we can’t control so let’s focus instead on things we can control! Thank goodness for skincare so we can at least try to do good by our skin and make it look its best. And if you’re ready to take it to the next level, K-stars are also known to get lots of skin treatments to maintain their most glowing skin. Because while skincare (and again, genes!) is a vital part of having healthy skin that looks almost glass-like, sometimes you need a little extra boost to get your skin to look like that. That’s where Hernel Korean Aesthetic Clinic comes in the picture with their newest skin investment: the Glass Skin Booster.

The last time I got to visit Hernel, I got to try their Shurink procedure. I loved it so much that I just had to try their newest procedure that’s apparently all the rage in South Korea. And with a treatment that promises a dewy, hydrated skin that’s rejuvenated from the inside, it was really a no-brainer.

Hernel is known for their perfect blend of innovation and tradition as Dr. Young Cho, who comes from the beauty capital of Gangnam in Seoul, personally curates and performs the K-beauty treatments that are featured in the clinic. So it’s as authentic and updated as you can get with the treatments without actually going out of the country.

According to Hernel, the treatment is inspired by the flawless complexion of Korean celebrities. “Glass Skin Booster is a microneedling treatment designed to transform your skin's texture and tone, Glass Skin Booster uses Hycoox (microneedles) to precisely deliver a blend of hyaluronic acid, amino acids, botox, and other anti-aging ingredients into the skin. The result? Healthy and hydrated skin that looks dewy, and delicate, with zero visible pores and reduced inflammation.” So really, what’s great about this K-fave, is it doesn’t alter but rather enhances your natural beauty.

The Experience

As with every consult at Hernel, you start off by paying JANUS a visit. JANUS is Hernel’s face mapping skin analysis machine and boy does it tell you exactly like it is. It’s so thorough that it shows you a detailed picture of your face and even breaks it down to percentages that can indicate if you “pass” or “fail” the ideal chart for your skin. It tells you your skin’s state, problem areas, and from there, the consulting assistant or doctor will give you the recommended treatments. My skin needed a little hydrating and plumping action so the Glass Skin Booster was the pick-me-up my skin needed. I was also suffering from a recent breakout at that time from introducing too many new skincare products to my routine (take it from me never ever do this!), they also recommended adding an Exosome shot that’s good for healing. The great thing about the Glass Skin Booster is that you can use it as a base treatment then combine it with other “add ons” if you have a particular skin problem you want to target– a skincare cocktail if you will. Other boosters available include Rejuran for regeneration and Chanel for brightening.

For maintenance, the clinic recommends having this skin booster done every two to three weeks to maintain the effects, or combine it with other to address other skin concerns. I won’t deny that the upkeep can be a lot, even for a beauty junkie like me. But if you’ve been consistent with your skincare and nothing seems to be hitting that glow that you want and you’re looking for a skin treat that actually shows results, I say go for the Glass Skin Booster. See if it’s for you, then just get it as often as you like. I’d recommend it for special occasions like trips or on a week you know you’ll be photographed ‘cause the investment is definitely worth it for that extra glow!
