Miss Universe Philippines 2024 Chelsea Manalo shared that the first beauty queen who sparked the inspiration in her to pursue a path in pageantry was Venus Raj.

In an interview with Bianca Gonzalez in the TFC show BRGY, Chelsea shared how the former beauty queen made a mark on her.

"I remember Ms. Venus Raj, well she already stood a foot on the pageant stage giving so many representation in itself,” she recalled. "It all started with Ms. Venus Raj. I mean, all of these queens wouldn't be a queen for no reason so they have started to influence me to dream that big."

Chelsea took a trip down memory lane and opened up about her pageant journey.

The beauty queen admitted that there was a time that she almost gave up her pageant dream during her Miss Universe Philippines stint due to lack of resources.

"The pageant was almost two months and it was continuous everyday so may mga times na you can't figure ano na ba ang outfit mo, nauubusan ka na ng damit, ng shoes, your makeup you have to hire a glam team. 'Yung resources ko was very limited," she recalled.

Chelsea relayed that if not for her parents and her team from Bulacan who provided support, she would have not been able to push through with the pageant.

"Kaya dahil dun sa support na nabigay sa akin that's what I had to make use so I could pursue the pageantry. Without them baka hindi ko rin pinursue kasi sila 'yung nag-push sa akin lalong lalo na ang mom at ang daddy," she relayed.

The beauty queen went on: "I really had a strong support system when it comes to the Bulacan team... They were doing everything out of love. Minsan ako na 'yung nahihiya kasi kakatok pa ako sa kanila ng 3am so that I can have someone do my makeup tapos sila pa 'yung nagme-message sa akin a day before., 'Chelsea where are you?' So ganung bagay I really appreciate it because nakikita ko na they really want this also for me. And I don't think I could've make it this far if it wasn't for these people."

In the same interview, Chelsea shared that ever since she was a kid, she had always dreamed to become a beauty queen.

"Naalala ko nung bata ako I would take a while in the bathroom kasi nahihiya pa ako na may makakita sa akin so I would have a hair brush with me and I would pretend saying my name on the pageant stage, 'Chelsea Manalo,' something like that because it was always been a dream of mine. And I would always play with my hair, always looking in the mirror. It was always a dream," she said.

Chelsea was crowned Miss Universe Philippines on May 22 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

"I once thought that a fallen star can never be reborn. For years it kept itself absorbed in the dark void. But it once again found its light. I was that star and last night I shone brightest because of all the love and support I received," she posted on social media following her win.
