Queen of Tears lead stars Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won shared what drew them to the series.

In a video uploaded by Netflix K-Content on YouTube, Ji-won shared that it was mainly the drama's script that made her say "yes" to doing the series.

"When I fist read the script, I had so many questions. How did this couple's relationship end up like this? Why are they so angry? Why is this person so cold and selfish? What happened? As I kept reading on what started out as curiosity eventually turned into affection for the story," she said.

Meanwhile, Soo-hyun relayed that it was the various emotions portrayed by the story's characters that made him love Queen of Tears.

"The tears shed on the show are all varied and different. You'll be able to feel the emotions of all the characters not just Hyun-woo's and Hae-in's."

Queen of Tears is about the intense challenges and the surprising renewal of love between Hong Hae-in, a wealthy heiress from Queens Group, and Baek Hyun-woo, a farmer's son from Yongdu-ri, over three years of marriage. Hae-in is played by Ji-won and Hyun-woo by Soo-hyun.

When asked why K-Drama fans should watch the series, Ji-won replied: "Ultimately it's love. It's about a couple experiencing a marital crisis and the process it takes for them to rebuild their relationship. Throughout all these stories, love is the main element. I'm sure viewers will feel a lot of warmth and excitement."

What were their favorite scenes?

"For me it's the wedding scene. I got to wear a tuxedo and she got to wear a dress. We also got to walk down the aisle," Soo-hyun shared.

Ji-won relayed her favorite scenes were the ones they shot in Germany.

"[They] were most memorable for me. I had a great time shooting so many lovely and beautiful moments there. It was quite memorable," she stated.
