Having been in the industry for more than three decades, singer, actor, and director Randy Santiago admits that retirement is still far from his mind as long as the public still wants to see his performances. The 63-year-old actor recently produced his Eye-Con concert held earlier this month.
“No, no, no retirement,” he clarified. “I’m saying that I’m getting old. I’ll be turning 64 and of course ‘yung nakasanayan nilang galaw ko eh siyempre hindi naman magandang kumakanta pa akong may edad na ako pero ganun pa rin yung galaw ko. Hindi naman po.”
Despite the changes he anticipates age would bring, Randy still sees himself performing.
“As long as they’re still there to watch me. At saka medyo maikot tayo ngayon eh. We do a lot of concerts abroad also. So medyo maikot tayo.” he said. “Aside from concerts kasi, alam naman natin na television is there so medyo may mga nagapparamdam na bumalik tayo ng television. Maraming mga ganun.”
Unlike his performances in decades past, Randy admits the concept for his latest concert had a different kind of vibe he’d never done before.

“I’m turning 64 and katulad ng sinabi ko, always in the 80s groove ako eh. So of course yung movement, yung mga inaasahan nilang galaw ko from before, siyempre different. It’s fast songs only because ang naging theme namin is club experience so dadalhin namin , the moment you enter the PICC Plenary Hall, para kang pumasok sa Xylo and the Clubhouse. So medyo ganun yung tema. Dadalhin namin sila dun, lights and all,” he added.

After putting rumors of his retirement to rest, Randy said that his return to television won’t be full time either. But he will be there support to support his longtime friend Willie Revillame.

“Nasa production lang siguro muna. I’ll be there to help him. Definitely as a friend I’ll be there,” he said. “Kakatapos lang namin ng Sing-galing eh. Pero siyempre ang hirap dun, hindi ako makaalis. When you’re doing a noontime show, hindi ka naman makakaalis alis. Hindi ka puwedeng magtagal ng isang buwan.”

“Tapos as a director. Pag sitcom, director ako. Eh kasi naka-shades kasi ako. Alam niyo namang sobrang dami ng limitasyon. Kahit yung mga teleserye eh. Pinakita ko yung kanang mata ko just for that teleserye,” he recalled.
