The family of Francis Magalona came together earlier this week at the late rapper’s grave to commemorate the 15th year of his passing. Francis died in 2009 after his battle with acute myeloid leukemia. His wife, Pia, and their children, Maxene and Saab, showed a glimpse of their family’s mini reunion on their respective Instagram accounts.

Pia penned a short message for her late husband. She shared how the priest reminded them that Francis was missing his family and praying for them as well despite not being with them physically anymore. 

“As the years go on, I thank God that He is in my heart, by my side, to guide me. As always, what motivates me is our family, as it was when you were around,” she wrote.

“I just want to share here how you often used to quote Joan Jett and tell me that love is a battlefield… and I’d argue back that no, with unconditional love there’s no need to prove nor expect anything,” she added.

Maxene shared a quote by Jamie Anderson on dealing with grief. The Viral Scandal actress expressed this was how she sends her love to her father.

“Grief, I’ve learned, is really just love. It’s all the love you want to give, but cannot. All that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in that hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go,” Maxene shared.

Meanwhile, Saab didn’t write anything in the caption apart from sharing how much she misses the late rapper. She shared a black and white photo of her and Francis, a throwback to one of their father-daughter bonding moments.

Francis is regarded as the King of Pinoy Rap for his invaluable contribution to the music scene. He has produced several hit songs such as “Mga Kababayan", "Man from Manila", "Ito Ang Gusto Ko”, and “Kaleidoscope World,” among others.
