Catriona Gray expressed her support for Miss Universe Philippines 2024 representative Chelsea Manalo.

Catriona will be flying to Mexico to join the pageant as a commentator for Miss Universe. She said that she is looking forward to seeing Chelsea's performance on the pageant's stage.  

"I have very high hopes for her. I think she has incredible stage performance," Catriona said in an interview with ABS-CBN News.

She added: "I would love to see her personality come out more but I'm sure she's being tactical about it and I think she's just having fun. She has a very youthful presence about her so I'm excited to see how that transforms on stage."

When asked what her tips for Chelsea are, the former Miss Universe replied: "Really just to give it her all. I mean at this point of the competition you're prepared as much as you can possibly prepare noh, so you're there, be present and just perform."

"I feel like she's been so well supported by the Filipino people as all of our Miss Philippines are and I'm just really excited to see what she lays out on that stage for us all," she stated.

Catriona is also looking forward to returning as commentator for the Miss Universe pageant this year.

"[I'm] excited. First time ko to be going to Mexico so I'm really going with fresh eyes. I will be documenting it as well kasi I always do that whenever I go to a new place," she said.

The former beauty queen also remarked that she is ecstatic to see the fans cheering for the candidates during the pageant.

"I think the Latin Americans as well as the Asians share that really big and loud love for pageantry, so I feel like the girls are really gonna be cheered on and celebrated and that's the aspect of pageantry that I really love," she said.

The 73rd Miss Universe preliminary and national costume competition will happen on November 14 at the Arena CDMX in Mexico.

Then the coronation night will happen on November 16 at the same venue.
