Kapamilya singer and songwriter Maki recalled how he was able to perform with American pop rock band LANY during their concert in the country last October 12 at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan. In an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN News, the ‘Dilaw’ singer shared how surprised he was as well when he was asked to sing with the band.

Aside from Bulacan, LANY performed in Cebu for three nights with the last one scheduled for today, March 15.

Fans of the American pop rock band were surprised when Maki was brought out to the stage in the middle of the show. The singer-songwriter claimed that it wasn’t in the original plan as he was only asked to be the front act for their show.

“Sobrang crazy! Up to now, hindi ko siya ma-grasp sa utak ko. But I'm really, really so grateful to be able to get this opportunity for someone like me na rising pa lang,” he shared.

“Kumbaga, bumalik ako doon sa 2015-2016 self ko. Na-realize ko na ang dami ko ring influence na nakuha from LANY sa mga music na ginagawa ko ngayon. This is my first international collaboration concert. To be able to perform with the people that influenced me sa music, sobrang crazy nun, sobrang wild,” he added.

The Kapamilya artist performed alongside Paul Klein and sang their latest song, "Out of My League." Maki admitted that he wasn’t familiar with the latest releases but immediately did a quick brush-up when the offer of performing alongside his music inspiration was given.

“I've been a fan for years. Although sa latest release medyo hindi na ako familiar kasi ang daming nangyayari sa OPM, so mas in-immerse ko sarili ko sa OPM. When I got the news nga, sabi ko 'Oh my god, kailangan kong alamin lahat ito,’” he shared.

Maki confessed that he was still in disbelief over how he was able to perform at the biggest indoor arena in the world.

“Nanginginig po ako sobra, kung alam niyo lang! Philippine Arena was so massive. Para ka na lang nalulunod sa ilaw. I tried to affirm myself na I deserve this stage, to be able to share the stage with LANY,” he continued.

Meanwhile, Maki is slated to hold his own sold-out concerts on November 29 and 30 at the New Frontier Theater in Quezon City.
