Former child actor Jiro Manio shared how he used the ₱75,000 that he earned from selling his Gawad Urian trophy to Boss Toyo of Pinoy Pawnstars.

“Yung ₱75,000 po from Pinoy Pawnstars ay ginamit ko pong panggastos namin ng family ko noong Christmas and New Year,” he relayed in an interview with PEP.

Jiro said that he got the idea of selling his trophy when he learned that Boss Toyo is building a museum.

"Napanood ko po kasi ang Pinoy Pawnstars kaya ako nagka-idea na subukan na ipa-keep ang trophy ko kay Boss Toyo, para mapasama po sa museum na ipatatayo niya," he said.

Jiro won the Gawad Urian award in 2003 for his performance in the film Magnifico.

When asked if the decision to sell his trophy was a tough decision for him, the actor replied: "Hindi naman po ako nahirapan dahil as part of my belongings, ipinagkatiwala ko naman po yon kay Boss Toyo at lahat naman po ay naging sigurado."

Jiro appeared in an episode of Pinoy Pawnstars which was released on January 2 on YouTube.

"Happy po ako na tinanggap ni Boss Toyo 'yung [award] ko na pinapatago ko sa kanya para sana mailagay niya sa museum," he said in the episode.

Jiro was in and out of rehabilitation rom 2011 to 2017 amidst his battle with substance abuse that time.

When asked by Boss Toyo if he would want to return to show business, Jiro said that he prefers to continue doing his volunteer work at the Department of Health at the moment.

"Nagwo-work ako sa DOH treatment and rehabilitation center as [a] volunteer," he shared.

In addition to the Gawad Urian, Jiro's role in Magnifico earned him the PMPC Star Award for Movie Actor of the Year, FAP Award for Best Actor, and FAMAS Award for Best Child Actor.

Jiro's other work include Mila in 2001, Foster Child in 2007, Ang Tanging Ina in 2003, Spirits from 2004 to 2005, and Manay Po in 2006.
