It’s the perfect time to do some self-reflection and soul searching during Holy Week. Apart from the usual films that are shown during this religious season, here are some other Filipino movies that could help you enjoy your time off from work.


1. Four Sisters and a Wedding

Already considered as a classic Pinoy film by many netizens, Four Sisters and a Wedding is about the four sisters trying to stop their brother’s wedding but in return discovers their own problems. The movie revolves around the relationships within the Salazar family (Toni Gonzaga, Bea Alonzo, Shaina Magdayao, Angel Locsin, and Enchong Dee) which other Filipino household members could relate to.


2. Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy

Directed by the late Wenn Deramas, this film is a story about forgiveness and moving forward. This comedy film will get you laughing and crying from the different roles played by Vice Ganda and the other actors who helped the film such as Maricel Soriano and Joey Marquez.


3. Ang Tanging Ina Mo (Last Na ‘To)

Following the success of the two films before, Ang Tanging Ina Mo (Last Na ‘To) offers something new for its viewers when it comes to love for the family. Starring Ai-Ai Delas Alas, Shaina Magdayao, Marvin Agustin, among others, the film showcases the sacrifices each of them have to go through in order for the family to stay together.

4. Seven Sundays

This is another movie you surely don’t want to miss out on as it gives meaningful life lessons for the whole family. Seven Sundays offers great acting coming from seasoned actors such as Aga Muhlach, Ronaldo Valdez, and Dingdong Dantes to name a few. 


5. BFF: Best Friends Forever

Starring Sharon Cuneta and Ai-Ai Delas Alas, the movie tackles friendship, heartbreaks, and redemption, all within an hour and 40 minutes. This film is a great watch during the Holy Week as it could help you reflect on the life you have been living and on who you really are. 


6. Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo

From reel to real, Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo star in this film which discusses the struggles of newlyweds. The couple portray realistic scenarios that happen in everyday life but with a little more comedic timing to it.
