Coleen Garcia wins Best Actress award at Venezuela Film Festival for 'Kaluskos'

Coleen Garcia added another feather to her cap after winning an international award for her performance in the movie Kaluskos.

On her Instagram page, the actress said that she is honored for her work to be recognized at a film festival in Venezuela.

"Yesterday (December 2) I woke up to the exciting news that I won Best Actress at the El Grito International Fantastic Film Festival in Venezuela!" she wrote.

Coleen extended her gratitude to the jurors of the film festival for giving her the award.

"Thank you so much to the jury for selecting me. I am so honored!🤍" she posted.

She also thanked the director and the producer of the film saying, "Thank yooouuu, Direk @manru and @viva_films, for the trust, and for giving me the opportunity to play Rebekah."

She also expressed her gratitude to the Lord for the newest milestone in her career. 

"Thank you, Lord, for carrying me through all of it. 🙏🏻🤍 I learned a lot from this project, and working on it really reminded me why I love what I do!" she posted.

Celebrity friends and fans of Coleen were quick to congratulate her for her recent acting award.

"Wooooow congrats @coleen 👏🏼" Karen Davila commented.

"SOOO PROUD OF YOU!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️" Kim Atienza wrote.

"I worked on El Grito, you really deserved that award. What a compelling performance," one fan said.

Kaluskos is Coleen's first suspense film and the actress admitted that taking on the role became a big challenge for her.

"Ang alam natin sa horror, mga aswang, white lady, mga bad spirits. I don’t know if you will outrightly count ‘Kaluskos’ as a horror flick. But this is the closest to a horror film that I’ve done," she said in an interview with ABS-CBN News.

Coleen shared that she had been yearning to play a role the like the one she played in Kaluskos for a long time now.

"This supernatural thriller was the genre I was really waiting for. Masaya talaga. It was a role I could really play with," she said.

She added: "In Kaluskos, I felt I had more room to really explore my character and worked on really developing my character."
