The new crown for the 71st edition of the Miss Universe pageant has been unveiled.

The Miss Universe Organization on Tuesday, December 20, announced that the crown is called the "Force for Good" crown. It was created by Mouawad.

The crown has 110 carats of blue sapphires and 48 carats of white diamonds. It is worth almost $6 million.

In a video posted by Miss Universe, the organization relayed that the "gems are set in wave motifs that reflect the needs for any call for change that may be repeated across time and to various audiences in order to build the momentum for this change to emerge."

Anne Jakkaphong Jakrajutatip, CEO of JKN Global and the new owner of the Miss Universe franchise, shared why the crown is called the Force for Good.

"The Miss Universe 2022 'Force for Good' crown stands for a graceful reincarnation of The Miss Universe Organization's long-standing values and heritage as a guiding light, shining bright to the future glory,” she said as reported by Manila Bulletin.

She added, "The new crown is also a dazzling illustration of both the challenges and rewards that come when young women advocate for causes close to their heart and strive to make an impact on the world."

Anne added that the design symbolizes the continuous quest of the Miss Universe Organization to empower women all over the world.

"As we are stepping into the new era of women’s empowerment, The Miss Universe Organization will continue to be a global organization run by women for women with a promise to serve as an inspirational platform that celebrates diverse women, supporting them to realize their ambition and build self-confidence, while evolving the brand over time to be more relevant and appealing to the next generation," Anne stated.

She continued that their new ambition is to "instill a sense of passion for transformational leadership among us all, with a firm belief that everyone can lead, be successful, and achieve their life goals.  With this future-oriented approach, the Miss Universe brand is keen to take on a pivotal role in involving and engaging people on a journey toward social inclusion, gender equality, and environmental sustainability."

The 71st Miss Universe pageant will happen on January 14, 2023 in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States, where the Force for Good crown will make its debut.

Celeste Cortesi will represent the Philippines in the beauty pageant in January.

The Filipino-Italian beauty queen has already traveled to the US for the final leg of her training prior to the pageant.

It was in October when it was announced that JKN Global Group acquired the Miss Universe franchise from IMG.
