Heather Fiona Galang, the daughter of actress Valerie Concepcion, turned 17 on Monday, October 25.

On Instagram, Valerie shared photos and clips from Heather's birthday celebration with their family, along with her simple but touching message for her daughter.

"Before this day ends, I want to greet my lovely daughter—Happy 17th Birthday, Heather! Sharing each day of my life with you is so special. Don't forget that I am here for you and you are very much loved. No matter how old you get, you will always be my baby girl and I will never stop loving you. You are and will always be my greatest treasure," she wrote in the caption.

In an interview on Magandang Buhay, Valerie revealed that she was only 16 when she got pregnant with Heather.

"Tinago ko [sa parents ko] na may boyfriend ako, tapos biglang buntis na nga. Habang buntis pa ako, kinukulong ako sa bahay kasi natatakot sila na baka makipagtanan ako. Kasi na-in love talaga ako nung time na yun sa tatay ng anak ko," the actress recalled.

Though Heather has never met her father, Valerie said she has been honest with her daughter about his identity from the very beginning.

"Bata pa lang sya, hindi ako nagsisinungaling. Sinasagot ko nang maayos, ini-explain ko lahat. Kahit hindi pa niya nakikita in person yung dad nya, pinakita ko yung picture. Ito yung tatay mo, ito ang pangalan nya. Wala akong sinisikreto sa kanya," she said.

Valerie said she believes that the openness she's modeled for her daughter is the reason Heather is also honest with her.

"Ngayon na teenager na sya, hindi sya nagsi-sikreto sa akin and I'm so thankful. At least maga-guide ko sya nang tama. Mas malaki yung tsansa na hindi nya maulit yung mga pagkakamali ko sa buhay," she said.

Valerie, 33, is now married to her non-showbiz partner Francis Sunga. They tied the knot in December 2019, after more than a year of being engaged.
