Sarah Balabagan, who made headlines when she was jailed in the United Arab Emirates in 1994 for murdering her abusive employer, ended over the weekend all speculations surrounding her involvement with news anchor Arnold Clavio, saying he is the father of her eldest child.

“Ang ama po ng panganay ko ay yes, si Arnold Clavio po," said the former Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) in a Facebook live video.

Sarah made the revelation in response to a viral post about Arnold wherein her name was mentioned.

Masaya na ako sa buhay ko ngayon,” explained Sarah, who said that she asked for the consent of her husband and family first before speaking up because she respects them.

In the video, Sarah dispelled rumors that former Philippine Ambassador to UAE Roy Señeres fathered her first child. According to her, it was the late Filipino statesman who actually helped her while she was pregnant.

Sarah went on to share that she met Arnold when the broadcaster was exclusively covering her murder case.

Kung gaano po ako ka-vulnerable noon,” she said.

Marami pa pong kwento pero ayaw kong i-kwento ngayon,” she added.

Alam ko po nagkasala po ako, at saludo po ako sa kanyang maybahay, sa kanyang asawa dahil noong malaman niya ‘yung totoo, talagang sinuportahan niya si Arnold,” she went on, referring to Arnold’s wife, Charlene, with whom he has three kids.

Sarah, now 41, was only 14 when she worked abroad. Using a fake passport, she got a job as a domestic helper for a 67-year-old widower with four sons at the United Arab Emirates.

Sarah alleged that she became the subject of unsolicited sexual advances by her employer. She stabbed him to death 34 times, saying he tried to rape her and that she was acting in self-defense.

She was initially sentenced to death but the sentence was reduced to a year in jail and 100 strokes of the cane, along with payment of blood money which was paid by a Filipino businessman. In 1996, she returned to the country to a hero’s welcome. She is now happily married and is living a new life in Las Vegas as a devout Christian, a mother of five and an advocate for fellow victims and survivors of human trafficking.
