A morning run led to a rare encounter with a coyote in Manhattan's Central Park on Saturday (April 20).

Brett Cohn spotted the coyote while running on the park's 72nd St. transverse and knew instantly it wasn't a dog, saying it looked more like a wolf.

According to the Central Park Conservancy's website, coyotes have been spotted in the 843-acre park since the 1930s and are usually more active at night. The conservancy says coyotes tend to avoid human contact, but will defend themselves if they feel threatened.
