When we hit a certain age, more often than not, we start to put limits on ourselves. We think we no can no longer do certain things just because we're 'past our prime', or we're 'not as strong as we used to be.' Chinie Go is someone who begs to differ. A 40-something mother who is fast approaching pre-menopause doesn't believe that she is past her prime. In fact, she's just getting started. Her love for movement has led her to look not just amazing physically, but in tip-top mental state as well. Currently a holistic wellness practitioner, Acudetox specialist, model, mentor, free diver, Motocross enthusiast, trauma awareness coach, and self-confessed student, Chinie manages to do it all—not selfishly, but for the ones she loves. Ahead, we talk to Chinie and ask her about her lifelong love affair with movement. Read on and get fitspired!

Metro.Style: What kind of workouts do you love doing? How did you get into all these? Have you always been into fitness?

Chinie Go: My workouts are a mix of different movements. From running, hula hoop, mixed pilates, barre, tennis, wall climbing, volleyball, and even ballroom dancing! My priority really is to sweat, whatever gets my heart to jump and get a dose of natural dopamine—I’m there!

Exercise for me is not focusing on just looking fit and shedding pounds; it's an overall mindset and nourishment for one's wellbeing. I’ve always been into taking care of my body and self because I need to be strong physically and mentally for me and my children.I prioritize myself for them.

MS: How long have you been doing them and what are some challenges you've faced?

CG: I have been active ever since and it just went to another level when I hit my 40s, having to understand that biologically our bodies hit differently as we age.

Challenge is my middle name. Well, theres not much of a challenge to be honest because I’ve already set my mind and heart to being physically and mentally fit especially now. My whole mindset is to stay consistent, stay motivated, and know that my future self will thank me for it.

MS: Describe a day in your life, and how you manage to squeeze in time for a workout.

CG: My mornings consist of a daily dose of motivational audio, personal affirmations, then stretching. I also have time with my kiddo before and after school. I doo some work emails, calls, content planning, classes, and meetings. I just make sure I have 2-3 activities a week to maintain balance. As I've said, I am consistent with myself so if I don’t get to sweat during the day I make sure I’d do it in the evening even if it’s past my bedtime or later than 12 midnight.

MS: What about your diet? Do you follow a strict regimen and how does it supplement your activities?

CG: No strict diet for me. I want my body to be happy. I eat what I want and when I want. I just make sure to sweat it all out, take my supplements, and keep my gut healthy. I’m pretty much aware of what my body needs and how I can make it feel good. It’s so important that we know our physical and mental needs as it helps a lot with navigating the aging process. There are so many factors to consider now with my pre-menopausal phase already saying hi so it’s very important that I am well prepared. It’s a whole different ballgame. I try to maintain a good balance for me to be able to move forward with grace.

MS: How do you treat yourself?

CG: By just simply doing what I love and I believe I’m already doing it. Everyday is a treat for me.

MS: Your best advice for women who struggle to keep a fitness routine.

CG: Struggle can be worse if you don't start now.
