Some Filipinos living overseas expressed concern after the Office of the Solicitor General filed a quo warranto petition to forfeit the legislative franchises of ABS-CBN Corporation and its subsidiary, ABS-CBN Convergence, Inc.

Philip de Vera, owner of the Philip de Vera Salon, said ABS-CBN is part of the daily lives of those working and visiting his salon on Earl Court in London, where recent developments and news about the Philippines are discussed.

“Nakakalungkot dahil mahal na mahal namin ang ABS-CBN at TFC. Once they enter the salon, naka-on na ang TFC,” he said.

Community leader Adel Duenas helps undocumented migrants in the UK. She said ABS-CBN provides news as well as television dramas, which helps her to de-stress.

“Yung mga palabas ng TFC palagi siyang may connection sa buhay naming mga OFW, lalo na pinapalabas sa Maalaala Mo Kaya. Sa news naman, nalalaman natin nangyayari sa ating bansa lalo na yung lugar na inaabot ng kalamidad,” Duenas said.

For Netherlands-based Filipino community leader and lawyer Flor Almodiel, there is a serious legal implication if the franchise of ABS-CBN is revoked.

“Worrying siya. Two levels. On a personal level, worrying siya dahil inaabangan ko lagi every night iyong mga shows ng ABS. Iyong Probinsiyano, lalo ngayon iyong Love Thy Woman, di ba?"

"On a bigger scale, para sa bayan, hindi maganda na mayroong ganoong threat ng curtailment. Tapos iyan na naman iyong quo warranto. It is worrying for our democracy. It’s worrying on a larger scale,” said Almodiel.

On Tuesday, the Solicitor General asked the Supreme Court to issue a gag order against ABS-CBN Corp. prohibiting "parties and persons acting on their [network's] behalf" from releasing statements surrounding the quo warranto petition filed by OSG.
