Shaina Magdayao is loved for her character Major Roxanne Opeña, one of Coco Martin’s allies in <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/angprobinsyano" target="_blank">FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano</a>. Prior, she was hated for her ‘kontrabida’ role in the afternoon action-drama <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/asintado" target="_blank">Asintado</a> which she enjoyed playing.In an episode of Tonight with Boy Abunda, Shaina mentioned that she’s supposed to take a break after doing the afternoon series T<a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/thebetterhalf" target="_blank">he Better Half</a>. But she’s long dreamed of portraying a multi-layered villain role, so she accepted the offer in <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/asintado" target="_blank">Asintado</a>. Thankfully, the production unit allowed her to take her vacation first.“It’s a very humbling experience dahil ‘yung mga natutunan ko growing up, ‘yung pagiging sincere sa acting, lahat ‘yun kinailangan kong hubarin to be Samantha Del Mundo dahil kakaibang approach ‘yung ginawa namin,” she said of how she built her character. She had qualms about playing ‘kontrabida’ at first. But with the help of her generous co-stars, she managed to get more comfortable and realize that playing a villain is fun. Besides, she wanted to say “yes to everything” whether that be in her career or personal life. “Yes to everything, even change, even the not so good. I’m going to embrace all of it,” said Shaina.She’s been an actress for over two decades now and it can be tiring. However, being open to possibilities refreshes her state of mind, “There was a time na sabi ko pahinga na ako, siguro I’ll take it slow kasi napapagod na ako. Siguro burnout din. But the moment that I started saying yes to everything, doon bumaha ng bessings.
