OPM icons Ogie Alcasid and Martin Nievera opened up their relationships with their wives in this throwback video from Tonight with Boy Abunda.

Ogie confessed that he’s usually the one to begin fights with Regine Velasquez, so although his wife does not complain about anything, he still wishes to be a better husband.

Meanwhile, Martin expressed appreciation for his non-showbiz partner, saying “I have the best partner. She’s so understanding. Her whole world is me, which is hard to find, when a woman gives up everything that she likes to do just to enjoy your world and your life. So I couldn’t ask for anything more.”

Then, he thought of asking Ogie a question about living a very public married life, which he also experienced with fellow singer Pops Fernandez. He asked, “What it’s like today being in a very public marriage wherein your wife and you are in the limelight? Even when you don’t admit it, there’s competition. How is that like?”

Ogie shared that he often tells Regine, “You are the superstar. I am the songwriter. And I am okay with that.” That’s why Regine doesn’t feel the need to fix her husband’s ego.

He added that they behave like ordinary husband and wife at home, keeping their dynamics simple and smooth-flowing. “She’s a wife. She’s not Regine in the house. She’s not Songbird in the house. She’s the wife. When we’re in the house, she just listens to me,” said Ogie, who gamely answered Boy Abunda’s racy questions as well.
