In the competitive and fast-changing world of showbiz, it’s a big thing when former child stars manage to maintain their career. Case in point: Krystal Brimner.

You can probably still remember her strong performances on Your Face Sounds Familiar Kids in 2018. Despite going through the so-called awkward stage, she managed to evolve as an artist.

Krystal, now 15, is glad that she’s still in the industry, although she considers her transition from a child performer to a full-grown artist a “slow burn”. She tells Kapamilya Chat, “Super grateful na hindi ako na-stop doon lang. I continued to flourish into show business.”

It also wasn’t easy because of the pandemic. The lack of projects at the time almost made her quit but, thankfully, she has her family to keep her encouraged. After all, she realized even the most popular stars today had to go through a process, “I felt very down and during the pandemic kasi walang work that time. I just stayed positive and hopeful na there will be my time to come kasi po I noticed din with the other artistas that are really known right now, they also took a while for them to get to where they want to be. Kaya I also just tell myself na if they can wait, then I can too.”

Now that she’s a teen and things are slowly getting back to normal, Krystal is ready to work more on her craft. In fact, she recently launched her EP (Extended Playlist) titled “Let Me Be” under Star Music.

As for her dream teleserye projects, she wants to work with Liza Soberano and Kathryn Bernardo and play kontrabida roles.

Krystal started as a theater performer. She was also awarded Best Child Performer for her role in the crime-drama film “Honor Thy Father” where she took on an impressive acting showdown with virtuosos John Lloyd Cruz, Tirso Cruz III, and Meryll Soriano at the age of 8.
