CANDON, Ilocos Sur – The Philippines’ Leo Ordiales proved to be one of the best men’s volleyball players in Southeast Asia.

Ordiales, who flexed his superb attacking skills in the 2025 SEA Men’s V.League Leg 1, was named the Best Opposite Spiker following the conclusion of the Candon City-hosted regional tournament, Sunday.

Despite Alas Men crashing out of the podium after their 19-25, 17-25, 17-25 loss against Indonesia, the former National University standout shone as he joined the “Dream Team” of the tiff.

He was with MVP Amorntep Konhan (Thailand), Best Outside Spikers Nguyễn Ngọc Thuân (Vietnam) and Boy Arnez Arabi (Indonesia), Best Setter Jasen Natanael Kilanta (Vietnam), Best Middle Blockers Kissada Nilsawai (Thailand) and Trần Duy Tuyến (Vietnam), and Best Libero Tanapat Charoensuk (Thailand).

The Talisay City native said this would boost his confidence as the national team gears up for the second leg of SEA V.League, and finally, the FIVB Men's Volleyball World Championship in September.

“Masaya kasi nakuha ko ‘yung award na ‘to,” Ordiales told ABS-CBN News. “Siguro pampadagdag ‘to ng confidence, pampataas ng morale.”

“Pagbubutihan ko pa, mas hihigitan ko pa ‘yung pinerform ko rito. Sana maka-podium kami sa second leg.”

The 22-year-old wing spiker delivered a total of 64 points on 60 attacks, two blocks, and two aces in four games, ranking fourth among the top scorers.
