MANILA, Philippines – Lessons from winning seniors Bella Belen and Alyssa Solomon will be valuable as the NU Lady Bulldogs enter UAAP Season 88 without them.

Belen, the team captain and three-time MVP, and Solomon, a decorated opposite spiker and former Finals MVP, are set to leave the squad after this season to turn professional.

Playmaker Lams Lamina knows how important their roles are in the team -- that's why they are soaking up lessons from their hardworking seniors.

Lamina said the most important lesson she learned from Belen and Solomon is being patient on herself.

"Para sa akin is 'yung pasensya at 'wag maging hard sa sarili," said Lamina.

The Season 87 Best Setter explained that patience helped her retain her composure at times when problems or errors are haunting her.

"Ayun nga kasi, all throughout ng pagsasamahan namin, tinuruan nila ako how to be patient with myself, and 'wag lang maging hard kasi nga mahirap na kapag iniisip mo kunwari, 'yung mga problema or 'yung error -- mas parang dadami pa lalo," said Lamina.

"Kaya ayon, I learned how to be patient."

Co-Finals MVP Shaira Jardio echoed her setter's statement, saying that she also learned how to be forgiving of herself.

"'Yun 'yung natutunan ko, na parang kapag nagkakamali, i-let na lang agad. Focus na sa next na gagawin," said Jardio.

Meanwhile, another Finals MVP in Vange Alinsug had another wisdom that she had taken away from her seniors.

Alinsug said she adopted their fighting spirit.

"For me, 'yung fighting spirit and determination nila and determination sa game. Kasi example ko na lang si ate Belle talaga, kasi nakikita ko talaga sa kaniya, kahit makita namin na tambak kami, pero kung titingnan mo siya, parang magfa-fire up ka rin na woah," Alinsug shared.
